Theater Rooms and Game Rooms

Dedicated theater rooms and high end media rooms are becoming very popular with good reason.  A dedicated room for movies and music can create a movie experience that exceeds anything that can be recreated in a living room.  In fact, with the right design and equipment, that experience can be more engaging and convincing than in many of the local theaters around.  And since this is a fun room, many theater rooms and media rooms share the space with a game room and the likes of a pool table or a poker table.

High End Stradavari Theater with Motorization

Because this house started life as a builder's spec house, the media room was basically wired from scratch.  All of the motorized components had to be wired and installed.  The work was difficult because all of the walls were closed by the time installation started, so this job was more a retro installation than one done during construction.

This high end home theater was designed to do double duty as a audiophile two channel music system.  The client also wanted to be able to watch TV regardless of the lighting in the room, so there's a plasma TV mounted on the wall behind the motorized screen.  And when the system is off, the rear speakers, screen and the projector retract into the ceiling.  Speakers are Sonus Faber Stradivari, Cremona Center and Elipsa rears.  Subwoofers are a pair of JL Audio Fathoms.  Projector is a JVC D-ILA unit projecting onto a Stewart Studiotek 130 screen.  TV is a Pioneer Elite plasma.  The displays are driven by a McIntosh video processor.  Audio is handled by a McIntosh preamp processor.  The speakers are driven by McIntosh amplifiers, monoblocks and stereo units.  Two channel audio is run by a McIntosh tube preamplifier.  Sources include DirecTV, HD cable, BluRay and Kaleidescape media server.  A Crestron touch panel makes it easy to use.
